Default SPARK PLUG WIRES!

ok I bought a box of ford racing spark plug wires today and put them on. First time to put spark plug wires on and didnt have any guide on how to do it. I took one of and would try to match it is lenth to a new one and so on. I noticed that each wire had a number on it 1-8. Does anyone know which number goes to which spark plug. I was driving tonight to a local car meet and when I would floor it is would start to backfire alot. Do I have a wire mixed up some where? My car has never done this until I put the new wires on so i am 99% sure it has to do with the wires. Tomorrow I am going to put the old ones back on and see if it still does it. If someone knows which number wire goes to each plug, that would be a great help. Or a picture showing which wire goes where. Any help on this will be very helpful. Thank you, Jerime

Def. the spark plug wires need to be set up 1-8 according to the appropriate cylinder 1-8. Glad you got that taken care of.

You take the number 1 wire off and then you put the new number 1 wire in.....you take the number 2 wire off and then you put the new number 2 wire in.....turn yourself around and do the Hokey Pokey.....that's what it's all about!
