Which Mustang GT???

RE: Which Mustang GT???
I say decide on which body style u like more, and then decide on which year (94-95 or 96-98) depending on which engine u want. And if u like the fox's more, well then i guess ur SOL or have an engine swap in ur future if u decide on a 4.6 :-P

RE: Which Mustang GT???
Yea id say chose what style you like more cause you can make either fast..and the 98GT is 225HP same as the 5.0's the 96 and 97's are the 215's..Id go for a 96-98 Cobra like said above.

You are going to get opinions from everyone. I'd consider everything you hear, but I will predict that the majority of people of this or any other forum will tell you "You want to buy the [kind of Mustang i have]" --pepole tend to be pretty loyal to their own car.
Owning neither 5.0 or 4.6 now, but having done a lot of work on both, I'll weigh in as having a fairly objective view here, by saying that the most important thing is to buy a car that REALLY turns you on. Don't be too worried about the motor: its the styling, options, color and so forth you will see every day and that just have to click if you are to really love the car.
As for the two motors, I strongly prefer the 5.0 for several reasons. First, I like pushrood engines because they have several advantages for hot rodding: they are simple, they have only one cam to modify, they have a lower center of gravity than an OHC (and are often lighter), they have simpler (and thus cheaper to modify) heads. Finally, I hate to give up cubic inches, and .4 liters (roughly 25 cubes) makes a difference in torque.
Finally, the 5.0 is cheaper to mod and there are more options, at less price, available for it. But either one can be enjoyeable and fun, which is what it is all about anyway . . .

Birdieman was close, except I think he was talking about a 99+ GT with the 4.6. A pre '99 GT with a non PI head 4.6 will net you just about dick with a blower. You'll need the PI swap first to make it anything other than a waste of money. I had this conversation with a guy about a year and a half ago. He said I was crazy, and he was going to put a blower on his '96. I can't remember what his name was here. Anyway. He put a procharger on it, and ran a 13.80. Yeah, that was WELL worth it.

RE: Which Mustang GT???
Thanks for all the imput, the body doesn't really matter for me though, its whether which car can get the hp i'm lookin for. As for a cobra, i don't know much about cars, but i do know a cobra would be a better paltform, but i'm young and insurence will kill me. The 92's are really appealing because i've seen them soo cheap, i could buy and mod them w/ money left over to pay insurence. Another question i have is, is looking to slap a supercharger on there, how or where can i found out how much hp they'll add?? I know this is probably a stupid question, but i'd like to get as much bang for my buck. i hear all these manufacturers mention, "good up to so much hp", what does that mean, will it give me that much hp in addition to what i have already, or is that the horse power i can acheeve from the s/c?? thanks, any help would be greatly apreciated. OOOORAH!
