the 347 used to burn oil really bad because of the way the 302 had to be stroked and bored there was clearance issues, most companies have cleared these issues up by using diffrent valves and rods etc, umm www.coasthigh.com has been very popular lately and thats where i plan to get my 408

Yep, those oil burning stories are years old.
I don't think that any of them sell those kits anymore. The whole thing had to do with placement of the oil ring relative to the wrist-pin on the piston...

You need to clearance for a 331 also.
