1966 Mustang Stalls -- Need help!!
Own a 1966 Mustang w/problem that is driving me crazy -- the car stalls after short drive (3 to 5 minutes) sometimes never gets out of driveway, usually cuts out at stops -- - you can see the RPM's drop to zero and car dies--will not immediately restart -- car will generally start after 10-30 minutes or longer -- the only way to keep from stall is to take out of gear (T5 trans) and keep car at high idle--but it is rough idle after this. Once home--car will start and idle perfectly in driveway -- get it on street and it will stop.
I have replaced the Pertronix Ignition, fuel pump, plugs, rotor, Distributor cap, Coil is fairly new --car has a 1969 351W motor--- 4bbl Edelbrock (few years old). Took to mechanic and they tuned carb and re-set timing...car ran great for 30 minutes and stalled. Does not appear to be vapor lock problem -- not sure if it is carb or electrical.
Any suggestions?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
