Default Keeping the Warranty While Upgrading.

I purchased an extended bumper-to-bumper warranty from Ford for my '06 GT. I am curious what can be done to the car without voiding the warranty. I realize not much can be done, otherwise I wouldn't have got the added protection. Just wanted to see whatever options are available.

I also noticed that Ford offers their own "racing" upgrades (tuner, mufflers, larger oil filter, cone air filter, etc.). Are these warranty voiding? Is it worth it?

Yes FRPP parts will void the warranty. You can make quite a few changes without voiding the warranty, but it depends on if the dealership decides that the mofification caused a part to fail. For example, let's say you put larger brake rotors and calipers on... and somehow your engine blew or you burned a piston etc... there is no possible way the change you made caused the failure in the engine, so they will do the fix.

It depends on how bad of a mood the person you are talking to about the warranty work is. If one dealership says your mods caused the failure of a part, try a different dealership or come back on a different day. There's no solid lines when it comes to mods voiding warranties. Essentially, if you don't even want to risk not having the factory do the fix, don't mod it at all... they will usually find a way to link a part failure to a mod... no matter how BS it is, they still can use it as reason to not do the work.
