thats cool, road and track said a 0-60 of 4.9 sec, that sound a little faster then i though..what do you guys think?
Well 3 things come in to play here.... The guys at the road and track, car and driver, motor trend etc. Test their vehicles under optimum driving conditions. They also have quite a bit of experience with getting the best luanch in the 1/4 mile. The third thing is that car companies send cars that are a little better tuned than the production models. Thus for giving you (the reader) a false idea of how well it performs.
except for the common knowledge that magazine times SUCK because they have no feel for the cars they test. while what you say is true in some cases, and they do usually test in optimum whether conditions, "factory freaks" and "first run" cars are by no means common industry practices
I had a CarandDriver subsciption for 4 years now. There is an article in car and driver about factory freaks. They stated that some of the test cars they recieved have been "blessed" or well "endowed" under the hood. After all many people read these magazines to get an assumption of how well they perform. It is also not rare to see things in the tester car magically disappear when the production model hits.

"is true in some cases..."factory freaks"...are (not) common industry practices "
i said it happens, but not usually, especially in the information age where someone buys a product expecting it to be like advertised

It all works out in the end because most people who don't meet the factory claims believe that it's their driving and not the vehicle to begin with. What do you think?
