Default Speed cut off?

Just sign on and have a question. I have a 2005 GT I bought for my wife
for our 25th anniversary. It has sat in the garage all winter and covered up.
Now the question: what is the top speed, or is there a top speed, where
the engine will cut out? Last weekend I had this one up to 145+ MPG and
then I back off. Is there a cut off? Thanks.

WOW! you getting 145 MPG. You wouldn't have to buy gas for several months. LOLThe top speed is limited to around 150mph, so you were pretty close to the maximum speed.

Top speed is limited to wind drag.

Actually, the top speed is limited to RPM's. These things have a rev-limiter that takes affect at 6,000 RPM's............

You will never hit the rpm limiter in 5th gear umless you change your rear diff. out big time.
Our cars are drag limited to top speed with stock ratios. 6000 rpm in 5th would be 200+mph.

correct 1st-4th are limited to rpm, but 5th has a governer or cut of switch whatever you want to call it around 150-155, the aero's or the wind wouldn't allow 6000rpm in 5th

Your living up to your screen name taking one of these cars to 145MPH completely stock with no safety gear, on an open public road. I guess some people like to live dangerously... The Vortech supercharged Mustang in one of the car mags got up to 190mph, and it would have kept going if they had more track. But yes the gearing will keep you back.
