Another stupid noise! WTF
Ok, so at this point, i am just making a list of things to fix for my local ford dealership.
I was driving to work yesterday and i noticed this noise. It's was like a poping sound. It happened every 5-10 seconds or so. Didn't matter if iw as driving or sitting still. As i was driving home, i noticed i didnt hear it... so i thought for a second and turned my dial to defrost the front window and also blow air to the feet position. The temp was at about 1oclock. So it was just a little past equal for hot and cold temp (leaning towards hot) and wala! there was the sound again. When the sound happenes, i feel the car jerk a little. Like it looses a small amount of power but they gets it back again. My roomatehas his camera so i can actually record the sound if nobody has any ideas but anyone else have this problem? It sound like its coming from some sort of compressor.

if thats a 'TICK' sound comin from under the hood when ur A/C is ON it is actually normal for it... I thought it was a problem at first but then after i took it to the dealer they said it's normal for the compressor to tick like that ever few seconds, So dont worry about it.

RE: Another stupid noise! WTF
Yeah all A/C compressors make a ticking sound as they cycle. If you open the hood and watch the pulley on the compressor, you will see that it cycles on and off. The loss of power you are experiencing is from the extra load of the compressor on the engine. Compressors put a strain on the engine cause they require a lot of power to turn. That's why you never race anybody with the A/C on.
