Intercooler Non-supercharger App.
hey guys- does anybody know if there is an intercooler that can be used with just a cai system? the extreme heat and humidity down here in south louisiana is killing my car's performance. i'm not crazy about the methanol injection systems because if it suddenly stops working, your engine might frag because of the timing issues associated with methanol injection. any ideas? thanks!

There are systems that use CO2 to cool the intake tubing which then cools the air some. I don't think there is much power to be found there.
Unless they are using an water/air intercooler packed with ice most FI guys are happy to stay within 40* above ambient.

There isn't much you can do outside of the methanol or "ice bucket" tricks....and even those don't give you very much power increase.
The whole reason why Intercoolers are effective on Turbo/supercharged applications is becasue the supercharger GENERATES a lot of heat when the air is being compressed. This can be +100 degrees or more, depening on the boost level! The intercooler is used to get rid of this heat, largely to combat detonation.
