RE: MIX MATCHING HEADERS AND MID PIPE
You may have to go to an exhaust shop to get a different mid-pipe to fit. I know JBA has the only LT H-pipe combo out there. Wouldn't mind hearing a catted version of they're setup. I've heard the non-catted version and its a little on the raspy side but not x-pipe raspy. Just old school raspy, not bad sounding at all.

RE: MIX MATCHING HEADERS AND MID PIPE
This depends.
If you are using a "stock type" of setup, which is SHORTY HEADERS and a "Stock style" midpipe, then you can mix and match those parts just fine: becasue these are designed to be exact OEM replacements, the "header-midpipe junction" is at the OEM location. However, if you are using long tubes, then you can't becasue there is no "standard" for where the the junctions between the headers and the midpipe are. Furthermore, there are no standards as to what that connection is. Is is a 3-bolt flange? 4-bolt? Ball-and-socket type? How large?, etc.
A good exhaust shop can modify things to make them fit. However, the question then becomes:
1) how good of work do they do?
and
2) what is it going to cost?
...I can tell you that an experienced exhaust shop that goes good welding is going to charge you a LOT of money for a conversion like this. If it's cheap, it means that you got shoddy work. My dead grandmother can weld better than the average muffler guy. Also keep in mind that most muffler shops don't weld stainless. Or, if they do, they'll just do it on a MIG with mild steel wire. It won't be a strong joint and it will rust.
Keep in mind that if you're buying coated headers the coating will have to be ground off in order for the parts to be modified (welded). That will end up costing you more money and will defeat the purpose of the coating as well.
