Wheel offsets

Wheel offsets
I'm looking to buy a new set of wheels for my car, but the problem is I don't know what the proper offset is. For instance I'm interested in the ct-r wheels (www.ctrwheels.com) and before I go and blow away a chunk of cash I want to make sure these will fit my car properly.
Thanks

RE: Wheel offsets
OEM offsets are as follows:
17x8" wheel: +45mm
18x8.5" wheel: +50mm
(note: Both offsets sit the wheel in from the fender almost a full inch, so you have room to play with a wider wheel/tire combo. For performance purposes, personally I would go wider, but I wouldn't deviate from those offsets much.)

I apologize for butting in, but talking about wheel offset, when I order my 18x9 Deep Dish Chrome Bullitts and I dont.....repeat dont want the tires to come out past the side of the fenders......what offset should I get for my new wheels. I'll be running 255/45/18's all around (so they can be rotated)
Thanks

RE: Wheel offsets
All of these points are well taken. Do not take any wheel company's word that their wheels fit "just fine" on the '05/'06. I went through !@$# with a wheel company that advertised a "perfect fit" when in fact the wheel stuck out an additional .500" out of the wheel well. It does not sound like much, but it looked like crap with the stock rubber. I ultimately purchased Ford Racing Chrome Bullitts and could not be happier.

RE: Wheel offsets
Hey GT John,
Personally, I like to stick as close to the OEM offsets as possible (there's more important reasons for this than what will "fit" or not--offset determines how the rest of the suspension geometry will react to the new wheel/tire combo). With your proposed 18"x9" wheel and 255 tires, you will easily fit inside the fender with +45mm offset. My guess is you'll still have 1/4" to 1/2" fender clearance. This comes from considering that the stock 17"x8"s come with a full 1" clearance, so you add 1/2" to one side (for the extra 1" wide wheel), and you should still be left with 1/2" of clearance.
Best,
-j
p.s. a big +1 to rotorr22's "buyer beware" tip...
