i have the K&N with no tune and it works great. there is a link around here to 5.0 magazines test of like a dozen different intakes with and without tunes. K&N claims a 15hp increase - the magazine saw 18! When they added a tune they only got 3 more hp. Everyone has their opinions. I am with you on staying away from a tune because of warranty fears. I will say the k&n sounds great and my butt dyno noticed the difference.

'Horsepower TV' installed a K&N intake on an 05 Mustang GT with a stock tune, and dynoed only 10 rwhp.

wow. . . i thought our cars came with at least 260 rwhp stock, adding a intake dropped it that much. . .

ha ha jk

i put a C&L w/ a 93 octane tune and gained somewhere around 30 rwhp . . .

if your gonna do it, do it right, you can always return it to stock with the tuner. . .

Yeah...I've come to the conclusion that a CAI and TUNE are my best bet. If I'm gonna do it...I might as well do it right. It shouldn't be a big deal anyway and if I read correctly...it's fairly easy.

I basically want a fast car, that's not too loud and can be a daily driver.

I plan on getting an CAI Intake W/Tune and a CUSTOM Exhaust system from headers to muffler tips and HOPE it won't be loud!!
i ALSO am looking for the same thing...I will get a CAI for the 07 which arrives month end, and a Bama tune.....Next year i will tackle the long tube headers, looking to wake the car up , but not over the edge like my other one....
