My Saleen SC will break the wheels loose at 20mph with 3.73 gears (and I have an automatic too)..... I wouldn't recommend the 4.10s with the SC. I think the 3.73's give you traction that is just to the point of breaking loose and spinning.

sounds like everyone is saying 5.00 is too much. but...i bet if i put in 5.00 gears i could cross the 1/4 in 4th gear, and if i got slicks i am fairly sure i could beat someone else who was stock but with 4.30 gears or 4.10s. i dont think 5 is too much...perhaps 6 or 7 is since the gears would be WAAAY too short, but i dont think 5 would be. maybe ill try it and see what happens...if i get 11's stock except for the gears then i guarantee everyone will want to get 5.00 gears :-)

what i really need is a graph or chart showing gear size and corresponding 1/4 mile times with the same driver in an otherwise stock gt (and for fun at other hp levels too). that way we could all pick the very best gear depending on hp. i just think no-one has had the ***** to go higher than 4.3, but i really think that there could be a huge advantage there...

edit: the only reason not to go to 5.00 gears would be traction, right? so if i ran slicks, wouldn't 5.00 gears be incredible on the track? i mean it's not like i'm gonna get up over 130mph so i don't need my 5th gear or top end...

DAMN nice car man. a v6 with 3.73 gears and supercharged by saleen? talk about a GT killer and a great sleeper...wow! what are your 1/4 times?

there are no 5.00 gears they are 5.22s

Thanks for the compliment. It is a GT with a V8. However, the only way folks know I have a Saleen is when I floor it!

Putting in a gear that size (5.22) with an automatic would be useless. You basically eliminate first gear.
There is no 5.0 gear made for 8.8 because nobody in their right mind would even be considering that ona street car.
