Default Had a hiccup yesterday........

There was another thread about the car hiccuping when accelerating. Well yesterday while cruising along in 4th gear at about 55mph I decided to pass the guy infront of me since it was a 60mph zone. I dropped it into 3rd like normal and proceeded to accelerate, not WOT or anything, just steady gas pedal. It accelerated for about 2 seconds then BAM! it felt like I took my foot off the gas for 1 second, then BAM! it felt like someone rearended me. I'm very quick to blame this on the electronic throttle because the thing looks like the cheapest piece of plastic crap on the car, but could it be something else? It's done this once before, but not specific to any gear or speed, I was going slower the first time if my memory serves me.

I want a throttle cable!

Mine has done that twice now and one time about got me killed as I was trying to pass. The other thread seemed to lead me to belive that it's the sending unit in the tank because the fuel gauge has been acting up also. I'm taking mine in, I want them to look at the driveline also because mine little hiccup was pretty friggin violent!!

Ive had the same problem with mine while trying to pass. I was going about 60 on a two lane road for probably 15 minutes and when I went for a pass the engine cut out for a second or so before it accelerated. It Scared me to death and now I'm afraid to pass people when I'm on two lane roads. I need to take it in and get it fixed. Does anyone know if it is an easy fix?

i too had this propblem , on the way back from the beach. i was driving for about 2 hrs and we hit some open road so i cracked in to it, and it fell on its face so long i took my foot off the pedal!! and then floored it again and it took off wtf. i agree cable would be better. i think drive by wire would be really weird in a five speed? is it?

I had the same thing happen and I just took my car in today for them to check on the fuel pump as a result. I'm guessing these symptoms are all part of TSB 06-9-9 "Hesitation on Acceleration After Long Cruise".

Hopefully the dealer's tests will confirm this problem and they replace my pump.

I had my fuel pump replaced by the dealer due to a serious hesitation while trying to pass a vehicle after an extended highway cruise. I have not had a repeat of this issue since (~2 months). It also occured while slowing down for a turnpike booth, during the acceleration away from the booth.
