How to?
the reasion they invennted ABS is, while braking still be able to use steering wheel.. if you lock your wheels, even if you turn your steering wheel all the way to right/left, the car will still go straight.. in the snow, ABS will not help much but to lock them up will make it worse.. drive carefully and it will solve the problem.. i reall think you shouldn't disconnect the ABS.

Because I want to control my car myself. I don't think they work to my liking in the winter. If I need to throw my car into a slide to avoid somebody on a slippery road I need to be able to lock them up.

Ok I've been reading this forum since it started, Foreverford im sorry i can't help you with your question, but i can back you on the removal of ABS in a car,i know from personal experienceto have the ability to lock up your brakes makes you better off, IF you know how its done, and it sounds like Foreverford Knows. Im 23 I've spent my life racing, my dad started me in karts when i was 5 and i moved up to dirt trackin when i was 12, and ive stayed with it since.
You do realize that when your tires are skidding/locked up you have no grip on the road. So how do you plan on steering the car when skidding. Skidding means no traction therefore the car will NOT do what you want it to. If your front tires are skidding you can turn the wheel all you want but nothing will happen. Why because you have no contact patch on the ground. Drive with more awareness and less speed in the snow and you won't have to worry about it,.
By the way disabling the ABS will most likley trigger the ABS light whehn it does a self test.Even if the Fuse is removed.

look richard lets say you slam on the brakes, yesi will agree you lose traction when you lock up the brakes, but the car will begin to rotate left/right and when you let off the brakes you will regain traction and it will go in the direction your car rotated to. now you say to drive slow in snow, well what if you find out someone close to youis in the hospital in critical condition, i can bet youd be goin over the speed limit. besides i dont care if you are goin 45 andyou are following someone, if they wipe out there is no drive slow and aware about it, its know how to drive or youll be on the tow truck behind them.
stormbringer do you know why The American firm Kelsey Hayes developed ABS in 1970? for people who cannot DRIVE a car. i found this stats on wikipedia.org on snow and ice locking up your brakes is way better. so if you wont listen to someone who knows twice as much as you then look at the stats.
