Default Tune questions (SCT2)

Alright first of all, I've read somewhere on the forum that I would better put my car back to stock before taking it for the service. True ?

Then, if I have my 4.10gears installed and I put my car back to stock, will that put my speedo to stock too ?

Then last question : I have a Granatelli CAI so until I bought the tuner I didn't need one as it is included but now I am going to use it so what would be the best way for me : getting a custome tune (with dyno etc...), or just buy one at like brenspeed.. ?

Thank you for your time !

It is always good to put your car back to stock before going to the dealer if you are having power train warranty work done. Most dealers will try to find a reason not to work on your car under warranty. Tune other than stock tune will result in a big fight cause according to ford if you tinker they dont cover. But what they cant prove wont hurt. It's just an easy way to avoid an unpleasant experience at the dealer. installing stock tune takes 5 mins. As for the gears when you put the gears in you void the rear end warranty per ford but oh well. Your speed-o will be off until you reload the artermarket tune but no one will know but you. As far as the tune is concerned if the CAI you have doesnt require it than fine but an aftermarket tune will improve the performance of the car. If you have an auto I can say that the transformation is massive. I use brenspeed tunes with my auto with one of his 95mm CAI systems. but there are other tuners out there like evoloution and b a m a chips that sell canned tunes that are awsome. If you have a local shop that dyno's with his tune I would be inclined to do a little homework on the shop and if he was good maybe get a custom tune for convience.

My CAI does not require a tune BUT I just bought a SCT XCalibrator 2 so I want to use it but I dont know where to get my tune. If I get it from brenspeed, will they know what tune is good for such a CAI ? Will they program it for 4.10gears too ?

Yes.They will know what to do with all your mods. The SCT has a feature on it to change the gears yourself. when you plug it up and start to load the tune.itwill ask you if you want to keep present settings. Choose no and you can set the gear ratio.
