Reserve gas after E
I was looking through my manual but I couldn't seem to find this...
Once you hit "0 miles to E" on gas, how many gallons are in your reserve? I hear it's one gallon...
I'm wondering if I can make my 16 mile trip home from work without going to the gas station in crowded downtown.
I'm at 3 miles to E right now...
Thanks!

yes you can...i believe it is actually a little more than a gallon. i have driven around 20 miles with 0 to empty one afternoon. dont let it go bone dry though cause you can mess up your fuel pump
The "0" mark for me means I usually have about a gallon left. Some people swear that once theirs gets to "0" that its empty for them. There was a thread on this about a month back where people posted how accurate that reading was.
ok guys, it's not really a reserve tank. it is more like a comfort zone. when it says 0 miles to empty, it just means that you have about a 20 mile comfort zone before you have to start pushing
I always thought that the computer that calculates your average MPG from your last tank and multiplies it with the amount of gas you put in on a fill up and gives you a miles to empty/range. When the miles to empty hits 50 the idiot light comes on, when that counts down to 0 the little computer thinks you should be out of gas but you're not. I think this is correct because I have driven highway fora long trip and after a tank or two the miles to empty is 340. When I am putting around town and getting on the gas, the miles to empty drop to 284 and when it hits 50 the light comes on. I am sure that if you drove like a grandma on that tank that you would have many more real miles to go before you were empty even though the computer said you were at 0 miles to empty.
You have a 16 gallon tank, but I think the computer registers it like you have a 14 gallon tank. If you ever go 10 miles or below to E, and fill it up. You'll notice that 13-14 gallons (Maybe 14-15 gallons) is all you'll get before the pump shuts off. So in essence there is a 'reserve' to give you that little extra you need to get your *** to a gas station. Normally I fill up, drive around until I'm E - 1/4 tank, and then fill up again.
