I was at 20 miles to empty Saturday and it took 12.921 gallons to fill her up. I am pretty sure I could of made it more than 20 miles on the 3 gallons I had left since according to the computer I am at 16.9 MPG.

My car keeps 1 gallon in reserve. Just found that out yesterday. I had 4 miles to empty, but only 15 gallons used, and we have a 16 gallon tank. When I filled up the pump put in 15.001 or something. So makes sense. The 'reserve' is that the car doesn't register the other gallon, and it's like we have a 15 gallon tank.

Not a good idea to run the tank low. Even if you don't starve the fuel pump, you can overheat it if it's not sufficiently submerged. Obviously not a problem for us northerners this month, but it's something to consider when the weather is warm.
Agree. Maybe the Mustang doesn't have a big problem with this, but in some other car forums I visit, the reportsof failed fuel pumps as a result ofrunning low or out of gas are pretty common.

my 05 GT gets as good of milage as my 06 V6 pony package got. Im not sure if it is cause the GT is a stick or the V6 was auto. Maybe cause i had to get on the V6 more to move it, less on the gt... Not sure... I averaged 17.2 city for the V6 and I am getting 16.8 or so in the GT. Kinda nice though!

I usually fill up just after I get below 80 til E. Its a 80 mile round trip for me to work and back, and I like to make sure I have enough gas to get to work and back home.

Whether the car says 50 miles to empty or 0 miles to empty, it's still using the same amount of gas. Why push the envelope unless you like to push your car or look like a dork walking down the road with a gas can? I have to admit I've been down to 10 miles to empty and the gas guage gets eiree with that red glow. I figured a hammer comes out a hits you on the head whenit gets to zero so I've never gone lower LOL.
you clearly only run one fuel....this information is good for people that plan to run out one type of fuel in order to put a different fuel in. Example: running down 93 to put e85. When retuning the computer. You want as little of the opposite fuel in there as possible. The answer is 1.2 gallons in the tank after "0" miles to empty is displayed. I use this every time I swap fuels. From 130 octane to 93. E85 TO 130. 93 to E85 etc.

Default reserve after E

Once you hit "0 miles to E" on gas, how many gallons are in your reserve? I hear it's one gallon...

I'm wondering if I can make my 16 mile trip home from work without going to the gas station in crowded downtown.

I'm at 3 miles to E right now...

Thanks!

the answer is 1.2 gallons when the display reads "0" miles to empty. I use his when I swap from race gas to regular 93 all the time. Don't beat on it at that time or you run the risk of overheating your fuel pump. It's cooled by the fuel. So don't make a habit of running that low.
