im using 4.10's and im still getting over 20mpg, i use the highway quite a bit too.

i am going to tell you that you probably need to get a tuner first...just because with the gears you will need to change the speedo

with my car (auto) GT the tuner really woke up the motor...i used to could barly scratch the tires in 1st now i can go thru 3rd

Does anybody have 4.10 gears with an Auto? How many Rpm's does it run at on highway, does it seem like it's geared too low?

Some of the more hardcore autos run 4.10s but 3.73s are more or lessthe autos equivalent of4.10s

I was thinking of putting 3.73 gears in but I keep wondering if I should just go with 4.10, it seems like 3.55 to 4.10 would be a bigger jump than going 3.31 to 3.73. I would go with 3.90 but it sounds like people say they are having more gear whine with 3.90's. I guess I'll probably go with 3.73 but it's kind of temptingto do the 4.10's.

I had 4.10's in my car for almost two weeks, they were AWESOME around town, but on the highway at the speeds I drive for 3 hours each way three times a week they were just a little too much. The car with the exhaust I have was just too noisy. I replaced them with 3.73's and I found it to be a good comprimise, I have better acceleration than stock and it pulls better in 5th gear. Also, even though the 4.10's got up to speed faster I felt that it lowered my top speed for some reason but I'm not sure about that.

no helical cut gearsshould whine, PERIOD. there is a 100 rpm diff between 3.90s and 4.10s

i finished off the intake and tune as well as exhaust then im just now putting on the gears tomarow! (3.73 ratios) however, if i were in your shoes, i would tune the intake, then get 3.90 gears after, also, getting the tune will help before the gears or while you get the gears because you usually have to tune the car when you change the ratios in the back.
