Default K&N CAI Question?

Im looking into getting a cold air intake. I actually got a tuner and tune at another time and now im just trying to decide on what CAI. I know C&L and JLT are the main ones everyone is using. But how are the K&N ones? and how are they different from the C&L and JLT? I was looking at these 2....

All comments and suggestions I will be taking into consideration. I want to know which 1 of these 2 are better and how it will stand up again the other 2 brands i listed above. Thanks guys!

Well I use K&N on my dodge and they have good products however, they arent widely used on the s197's. Your best bet is a package from a local tuner with a dyno. Your second best bet is one of the packages from brenspeed or b.ama or VMP, I have brenspeeds tune with the airaid which I love. I have no experience with the other 2. You'll get bigger intake tubes from the other CAI's for the same cost.

The K&N doesn't seem to have as large an airway as the bestsellers. You have a Steeda throttle body spacer, so the Steeda CAI would be a safe choice. I am very happy with mine.

Get rid of the spacer as it probably make you stretch the hose that attaches to the intake anyway and in reality is doing nothing for the car. I would get a Steeda, JLT or C&L....they are the best on the market for a reason.

if your tuner is an xcal2 I would recommend the steeda or c&l CAI with retune from brenspeed (although not listed on the site, they are available separate from the CAI/tuner combo...I think steeda is $330 and C&L is $350). The tune is something like $75 unless you originally bought your xcal from brent in which case it's gratis. Many on this site will agree that he's awesome...brenspeed's favorite is the C&L, which cinched the decision for me...

p.s. IMO the fact that the K&N installs without a tune/retune is proof that you can do much better gain-wise...

Steeda just dropped the price on their Elbow-Intake combo to $ 329.99 on their web site. I was impressed with mine when I opened the box! Nice stainless steel air box, quality parts used through out. Their new model is 90mm inside diameter.

I have the STEEDA with the O.E. elbow....I love it. My wife has the K&N. Its awsome. This CAI do to the thiner elbow, gives you the best of both worlds. Low end power and top end power. The CAI that are fairly large, have good top end power, but not much down low. This is straight from Brenspeed.
