Want to turn my Stang into a Porsche 911 Turbo

RE: Want to turn my Stang into a Porsche 911 Turbo
I used to ride a 2004 Yamaha R1 (1000cc bike) and to compare the power with the mustang is like comparing a lambo with a escort. I am really doubting I can do enough to my GT to get the same feeling I had on the R1. But there is a catch...it is a lot easier to kill yourself on a bike than it is in a car. There are some of you that are haters of bikes but I would tend to believe you never really experienced a superbike. I had an evo pull up too me one time on my old R1(2000)...it was funny...he was jamming gears I didnt even notice him until he tried doing a fly bye.I was in 5th gear and just walked away....If you have ever riden you would know you have not a lot of power in 5th. If I was really "racing " him I would have dropped it into 3rd and put me at 9k rpms and knocked him back to the stone age. There are guys with thier whipples, saleens, etc putting down 500-600 plus hp that still could not take a stock R1, GSXR1000, etc. It is a hell of a rush. BUT there is the death part and no protection. People do not see you and change lanes into you. You have to drive like an idiot to get away from cars to protect yourself. Until you ride you do not know what it is like. If your doing over 100mph in the GT it feels like your moving. If your doing 100mph on the superbike it feels like your just warming up. One day I was riding just tooting along and was in my zone. Quite comfortable at my speed. Felt like I was doing 75-80ish. I looked down and I was doing 130 all relaxed. It was then I decided I needed to get out of them superbike. They were going to get me killed or in lots of trouble. There was one month I was pulled over 5 times for dumb reasons. I could imagine some of you saying he must have been doing something dumb to get pulled over that many times in one month. Well I am a responsible driver( with the exception of speed) and have a perfectly clean driving record. No tickets or accidents in about 15 years. Have the best insurance rates a single guy can have. Cops just pull over bikes cuz we look like were trouble. You get harrassed a bunch on a sport bike. That is all the bad stuff...
At times I do miss my space shuttle but I think of the danger and I would rather have a cage to give me a fighting chance of living.

RE: Want to turn my Stang into a Porsche 911 Turbo
I am in no way a bike hater, like I said, I stay back when behind one due to the "death factor".
I was just stating how I "hate" how they clobber me on the highway (actually, other than the occasional Honda or once a Beemer), sportbikes are the only ones who will run with me.
That's why I want one, LOL, oh and the sub 3 second 0-60, sub 10 1/4 might have something to do with it.
Not to mention, I can get one for 1/3 of what I paid for my Stang!

RE: Want to turn my Stang into a Porsche 911 Turbo
+1 on the bike issues. I had a 2003 R1 with full Akro race exhaust, dropped a tooth in the front, PCIIIr, velocity stacks, etc. It weighed 380 or so dry (about 445 wet) and put out 145 rwhp. There was not a car aroundthat could touch me to about 170 (where the 6th gear hit the redline given the gearing) and that's actual ( I had the speedo corrected with a yellow box). If you are trying to get a car that can match the bike, it'swaste of time. But it isn't practical and it's much more dangerous than a car. After one of her friends had a husband paralyzed in a bike accident, my wife prevailed on me to get rid of it and consented that I could get a car that I could mod. I have an 08 GT on order and plan to mod it to the hilt, but I have no delusions that it will ever, ever come close to what the bike could do.

I almost forgot myself, but this was a thread about how to(how much $)to run my GT with a Porsche 911 TT.
I think I may have steered it in the wrong direction towards sport bikes(I still want one!) but that is not the issue here.
Thanks a lot for all the info guys,
Lance

If you are looking for the handling aspect in addition to the straight-line speed, you would be better off with a C5 or C6 Corvette. The proper balance, lower center of gravity, and lower weight of the Corvette will get you there better than a 4-seat Mustang - just look at the Z06. The Z06 already competes with the Porsche.
The Mustang was built to be a muscle car, enjoy it in that way! Even the Shelby GT500KR doesn't appraoch the performance that you stated in your first post.

RE: Want to turn my Stang into a Porsche 911 Turbo
agreed, just need to pay off the Stang first, then look into a used Vette and start modding the hell out of it....
why can't we have the best of both worlds, LOL?...our looks plus Vette/Porsche speed/handling?
in the mean time, I'm gonna go get a sportbike to amuse/abuse myself!!!
