So the other day I notice a faint rattle from somewhere between the transmission area and the front of the engine. Seemed to only occur when the engine has a load on it accelerating or decelerating. Sounds like a bolt vibrating around in a metal box. Since then it became louder and much more noticable. Occurance has also become a bit more random, starting and stopping whenever, not just under load - even at idle. I have an aftermarket x-pipe and axleback, and checked for any obvious looseness with the X hangers, clamps, bolts, etc. I did see that the front right (i think the sound is more from the right as well) O2 sensor wire is about an inch away from the heat shielding and makes a somewhat similar sound when I knocked it up against the edge of the heatshield, however I don't think that they would ever meet when driving plus couldn't possibly be as loud as the rattle since it's covered in a rubber tube. Anyone had a similar issue? Ideas?

Make sure the heat shield is not lose. I had a rattle from under the car and that's what it was.

Discovered that it's actually from inside the right-hand cat on my SLP xpipe. Some of the internal stuff must have come loose. Now I have to replace the whole midpipe.
