I love the people who use this site all of the time and when a sponsor offers a great price on a group buy, they are quick to go elsewhere. So what if you make an offer to the person on eBay and they match Tillman Speed's price or beat it by a dollar or two. If you want to participate at this site, why not try offering a little support it by means of your wallet?
FYI, the seller at eBay is a sponsor at another site I frequent and I'll be spending $500 or so with them also, BUT NOT THROUGH EBAY!

We do group buys to lower prices on items which we wish to put on or in our cars. If the world ran on hearts and flowers I'd surely support our sponsors.. but it runs on money.. so I try to find the best deals I can on mods so I can use the money I save for more mods, or for other things for which I deem it appropriate. I respect that you choose to support something and stand by that. I myself remain undecided as to where I will buy my shocks from. I am a frequent user of Ebay, and have bought and sold many things on that site. If you do not use it, I can see how you would choose a sponsor over it.
If you agree with my ideals or not, that's fine with me.
Sorry for getting off topic.. I just thought it was time for a little reflection..[8D]
Back to buying shocks, all of you!

^^^ That's what I've been saying for the longest time...
(read page one...)
How is this a group buy if one person could get the same price by themself?
I'll quit whining cuz I might be in this GB later on...lol

I thought group buys were suppose to be when a significant amount of people agree to buy a product so that the price is significantly lowered. Group Buys usually result in people making an impulse purchase because the price is too good to pass up. I've wanted d-specs for awhile now but have been spending my money on other parts and been putting the shocks off. If the price was to good to pass up, i would jump all over it because I really do want these, but the price isnt any lower than you can get it at any given time of the year. by the way, ive donated money to this site through paypal before. i dont know why there isnt a CONTRIBUTOR icon under my user name. i guess my donation wasnt good enough lol.

As a sponsor of this site, this is pretty disheartening on a number of levels.
I'm not sure why some companies feel they have to give parts away. Maybe it's because they can't suppport the product with proven knowledge. The bitterness of poor quality (parts or service) lingers long after the sweetness ofa good price is forgotten. There are car dealers that rape and pillage, and generally offer crappy service too.
I'm not some mega-store, I'm a very small business. I do my best to sell for a fair price against fly-by-nighters and Ebay'ers that don't have the overhead of a real business, or toll-free numbers, or Mustang's of their own they drive/pay for/compete in like I do. Those things aren't free. The knowledge gained by my use of and competition with various parts didn't just fall in my lap. I work hard and pay dearly for what I know. And I'm completely willing to pass that knowledge along to customers. Folks don't buy parts from me, they buy a setup from me. We wonder where customer service has gone in this world? Largely it's disappearing because those that offer it are driven out by the cheapest. I've had to stop being as free with advice on the forums (this one and others) because people would take my work product and then kick me in the butt when buying. I'm not keen on working for free, let alone paying for the phone call to give that information away. This has already happened here on this site, even by some folks who've posted in this thread. I didn't even get the chance of a sale, but find the parts we discussed on their cars.
It further occurs to me that nobody really dives into the details of these things. Say D-specs vs. Koni's. They are not the same, they do not adjust the same things. Tokico's are more coarse, Koni's more fine. And when you consider warranty, well..... Tokico is kind of ****ty on that front (and I say that as a Tokico dealer). Nobody seems to care much about the details, only the cost and that's really a shame.
As a sponsor here, I'd like to see this link taken down. It's inappropriate and unfair to those that support this site. I have stock on D-specs, two sets in stock right now. But, I guess I'm not price competitive enough because I'm not willing to give them away.
If it's all about price, then so be it. I can't imagine that any of you who have references, and are good at your job would be happy if you were terminated because your boss found someone cheaper. But that's exactly what's happening. I'm not saying you should buy from me @ $800 a set for what you can get for hundreds less. I'm simply asking you weight the value of a real brick and mortar business, who's owners you can do research on and learn from vs. today's sweetheart "won't last long, SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY" deals. I, more than I'd like to admit, talk folks out of buying parts if they don't need them. And that's gotten me a great following in general with other cars and buyers. The Mustang world is newer to me, but so far seems that few seem to care much about real world results....
