I'm not really a racer, but I took mine once (only 2nd time ever) to the trackand my best time out of 6 tries was 13.1 @108.12 reaction was 1.065, 60ft. 2.081 on bfg kdw's which suck because they spin half way down the track and I had to keep letting off, now I know I can do way better then this. This was with the Roushcharger and roush tune

Wow, lots of posts. Opened up a fun can of worms. I just dropped the car off today for my sc install. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Now the race experienced guys will know what I'm talking about here and the newer guys may or may not: There are a couple of keys to getting good et's. Traction most definitely is one of the most important. You must understand something though in racing on street tires. It's impossible to get off the line in street tires without some wheel spin. If you dont have wheel spin at all you will "bog" down the motor and will be slow. Keeping your rpmstoo low at the start just eats up time getting into your power curve. Now here's the part you may, or may not, understand. Wheel spin is ok. Breaking the tires loose is not. ThereIS a difference. When I've gotten my best times in all my mustangs they have all been with moderate wheel spin. NOT breaking the tires loose. Managing this is the key to street racing or drag racing on street tires.I've seen cars run 11's on street tires. An old friend of mine has a slightly modded Viper that runs high 11's on street tires. Granted they are the size of coffee tables. In a Mustang another key is the shift from 2nd to 3rd. How many of you guys lift your foot off the gas when you shift? To get the best times in a manual car is to shift without ever lifting off the gas. Experienced guys know what I mean. 1st to 2nd is easy. 2nd to 3rd is the hardest and takes lots of practice. For those of you with 3.55 gears or more will have to shift to 4th which is also easy. Unfortunately getting good at all this kills tires, clutches, and throw out bearings. (fox body cars know exactly what i mean) Have fun guys!!!!

Something I've learned is to pull your seat all the way to the steering wheel or as close as possible. Try not to pimp at the track.. (5 speed guys) You eliminate inefficiant shifts or wasted motion. Practice makes perfect...

LOL! I won't tell you how many times I missed 3rd in my old 84 GT learning how to powershift/speedshift. Do any of you guys know how long a throw it is in an 84 GT?? My knuckles would almost hit the dashboard.

What track was this at?

I've run several times with a better ET but have not been able to run 109mph. Seems a little high.
My car has 4.10, longtubes, C&L, Bama93race, pullies, Dennys driveshaft, 26" ET streets, M&H skinnies and weighs 3280 without driver. Best mph is 108.40 at Speedworld

you are dead on about getting your wheelspeed up without blowing the tires off.
there are so many tricks to manipulate an e.t. it's not even funny... the thing is though sometime to get you a good e.t. won't work if your bracket racing someone. it only works for framing a slip.

the slower your sixty the better the chance you have of running a higher mph. the longer your on the track the more time you have to gain speed. I know it doesn't make sense but very rarely will your best e.t. be your best mpg as well.

I've went 9.00@170 with a 1.70 sixty and I've went 8.92@166 with a 1.55 (nota car of course)

I went to the track last night in my 08 BULLITT and this was my best run bone stock... (Reaction .184) (I1 2.066) (I2 5.755) (I3 8.778) (MPH I3 81.607) (E.T. 13.549) (MPH 103.235)
Keep in mind i live in south texas 8 miles from mexico and it was hot and humid... what do you all think? i know they got the BULLITT down to a 13.29 in a mag but forgot which one... which one is the 60 ft?

08B,
I think thats a great run! You will be shocked how far it drops with just a new tune. The 93 tune alone withyour bullitt could drop u down to a 13.1 or less. Do you know how to speedshift? Thats another tenth. It looks like my car might not be ready till Monday. I was so hoping for Friday. What will I do Saturday and Sunday with a car to freaky clean? By the way guys, I'm selling my C&L intake and Diablo tuner. Anyone interested?

Going for Broke,
Exactly. MPH means nothing when it comes down to it. Its the time that matters. There are so many nuances to getting off the line well. As I said earlier, wheel spin is ok as long as your gaining momentum and they dont break loose. This is so hard to "feel". Do you agree that you feel it in your ***? I know it's not good for the clutch but when I start losing traction I dont let off the gas I "very slightly" feather the clutch.
