Default Forced Induction and Torque!

Okay... so I've been checking out different posts and sigs for a while; and some of the Forced induction guys have 425RWHP and 380RWTQ and some have 425RWHP and 440RWTQ. Now I know horsepower is derived from a formula that includes torque, but how are some guys getting shafted on the torque while others are breaking their driveshafts? The only thing I can think of is maybe Supercharger vs. Turbo but thats just a guess and Turbo's are pretty rare on a dual-exhaust car. Any ideas? Caue I want a Torque monster after I put on my Blower

I used to think that hp and trq was all the same as well until I took notice of the different types of blowers vs turbos and their power delivery. For me though in the future I might very well go with the paxton 2200 vs the saleen/KB simply because of later spool and more overall power, better for both traction and top end. But from what I hear nothing beats KB/Saleens when it comes to low end power because of nearly instant boost.

Default RE: Forced Induction and Torque!

Cars with high peak torque numbers usually have a falling boost pressure curve. This means the peak boost (and therefore torque) comes early, but tapers off, thus lowering peak horsepower numbers. Many turbo systems have a curve similar to this.

A centri supercharger reaches its peak boost at the highest possible RPM, thus will have lower torquepeak (engines at high RPM use more torque to defeat friction, and therefore do not reach the same peak) but high horsepower numbers.

Twin Screw chargers have instant boost, and maintain that boost to high RPM. Usually the torque/horsepower numbers are comparable, withHP#'s slightlyhigher depending on how high the engine is revved to.
