If you do end up getting the non-intercooled kit the install on that would be really simple. I wouldnt waste the money on paying for install. If you have the money for the install just getthe intercooled kit.
How easy? Just bolt on stuff? I do not have a lot of experience but would love to attempt it. I know the non-HO doesn't require front bumper install of intercooler.

Can it be done with regular tools &no mechanical knowledge other than that provided by the installation instructions?

Also,

The s/c w/o intercooler should not run too hot (even in 90 degree weather) if it is only creating 6-7 pounds of boost, pushing roughly 380-400 rhp.

Answer me if I am wrong, but I would think that pushing 8-10 pounds non-intercooled is when the trouble begins.

You should be able to get 425RWHP with a good tune. $3300 is in the right price range for non IC Vortech or Paxton. I would not worry about the intercooler unless you plan to run more boost later. I would look at the Self Lubricating units from Paxton or Vortech so you dont have to run oil lines. You just change the blower oil via a convienient drain line every 7500 miles after the first 2500 mile break in change. Then you might be able to do it yourself with basic hand tools.

I got mine for $1900 used, so I'm not sure $3300 is a good deal. Keep in mind you'll pay $600+ for installation, and another $200 for a custom dyno tune (if you go that route), a few hundred bucks in gauges (which are required, IMHO), etc.

I agree with that 420rwhp is doable without being cooled, but once you feel the power, you'll want more. Trust me.

I'd spend $1K more for new s/c, rather than used, for piece of mind. But if you know the product's prior owner and its history, why not!

I read the installation manual for the non-HO s/c and though I have no mechanical experience, I believe I can install the system seeking only help with the add on boost-a-fuel pump. It really doesn't look hard in theory, but getting everything to fit right in reality is different.

I honestly believe 400RHP is the mark I would be satisified. I don't need super huge numbers, just enough to keep a grin on my face.

I want to build a well balanced ride, besides, THERE IS ALWAYS A BIGGER DOG ON THE BLOCK. So I don't want to get into a $ spending competition with others just to find out who swings a bigger d1ck.

Whatever you do, get the kit from Brenspeed!!!!!! The tune and customer support after the purchaseis paramount and with Brenspeed you can be assured it's plug and play, the tune will be right on! Even if it costs you a little more, peace of ind is worth alot more.

I have the non intercooled Vortech and with an automatic i have 401 rwhp and 371 rwtq. It has a conservation tune. I have about 3500 miles on the supercharger. I left the 410 gears in with the supercharger.
