Default FRPP blocks Questions

I´m looking at the FRPP catalog and theres a 4.6 aluminum block for supercharger Part# M-6010-A46SC

Whats the difference in that block with the one we all have in our cars?
I see this one is 168 lbs and the other 4.6 aluminum block listed is 128 lbs ... Both are 999 dlls

So we use the NA version in our cars? which is part
M-6010-A46NA ?

Also is the block with part#
M-6010-D46 the one used in the 03-04 cobras ?
Do I only need mounting points brackets to use this one in my car ?

I always thought the 4.6 Iron would be more heavier than 178lbs as FRPP website says, and aluminum 4.6 is 128 lbs.

Which one should be the best choice for high HP aplication ?

Thanks

I through in my 2 cents.

Those should be the new aluminator blocks.

The SC one should have the lower compression and is used as an 03-04 Cobra replacement. They are available for 2v, 3v, and 4v, as far as I know.

They have a forged rotating assembly and should be good for decent power. They havent been out long but I would think 700rwhp should be np.

I plan on getting this shortblock down the road and running 15psi and 93 octance. I might add a little nitrous on top.

The NA version I dont believe is the stock GT short block as it also has a forged rotating assembly.

This is all coming from a recolection I have from reading it in MM&FF a while back, but hope it helps.

so is anyone 100% sure this block will work on the 3V's. I dont see anything about these blocks except the 4V. Im assuming the flywheel will need to be changed with the crank being forged and probably out of the 4.6 cobra iron block.

It has an 8 bolt crank so you will need a new clutch flywheel combo.

I read that article about 2 months ago and they said the 3v would be out by the time of distribution. Call a FRPP stocking shop.

I recommend Steve @ Tousley Ford, great prices on FRPP stuff, I got my whipple from him.

Good luck.

Bad news for me, the 4.6 Iron I listed is just the stock 2V block, so thats a no.
The 4.6 aluminum SC version fits only 03-04 cobras due to its front dressing

And i´m not sure of the 4.6NA.

Adam at ST motorsports is using the Cobra block with Diamond 3 valves pistons for my build.

You will need some custom done motor mounts for the iron block. Not too difficult he says but the S197 mounts don't work.

I beleive the difference between the two blocks is ~65 lbs.

The alluminum and iron blocks can hold gigantic amounts of power, the rotating assembly is the limiting factor. When these aluminum blocks first came out everyone thought they would not hold power like the "old" iron Cobra blocks. They found out they were as strong or stronger. Go figure.

HE told me either production aluminum or the Iron are ok, just the Iron is 1/2 price but 70 lbs heavier.
