Default WHipple MAF counts

I am seeing a MAF Count of 920 at the top of second running 8psi.

I am planning on upping the boost to 10 psi soon. What is the count for a pegged MAF? Should I get a MAFIA just in case so when I hit the dyno I am not SOL?

I am beginning to order parts.

Thanks,

I'd get a second opinion by a tuner, it might be your instrument failing or getting a false reading

I don't think you'll need the mafia. No one else with the whipple HO is using one and most dyno around 460.

Running 507rwhp and not using a MAFia. I wonder at what power level do we have to run one? I've seen cars with less power then mine using the MAFia.

Well my installer ran my car on the dyno and at 8psi he said was running out of MAF.

And the numbers I see on my Aeroforce gauge appear to say the same thing. From what I have read some cars need them much earlier than others.

I am going to have VMP dyno tune my car when I install the 10psi pulley, so I will just make sure he has one on hand just in case. I might install it when in Jan when I put on all the other parts but I wont be going over 3k rpmtill the clutch is broken in and I get on the dyno.

If your out of MAF, my suggestion is to get a larger inlet pipe with a larger MAF. The tuner can then rescale the MAF transfer function in your tune, and you should be able to flow more air without pegging the MAF and gain a few horses by removing the restriction. I hafta say tho, if your at 8 psi and pegging your maf, something is seriously wrong. I've seen Saleen units pushing 12 psi on the stock intake tube and MAF and they only just managed to peg the MAF.

Well right now it is 100% whipple parts and tune and the car runs great.

I only see readings that high in the morning when it is cool once the car heats up they dont go that high. If I need to get the MAFIA I will.

I asked teh question because I was going to order one just in case and return it if I didnt use it. Then I checked Justin's website and he sells MAFIA's so I will just have him have one on hand just in case.

Thanks,
