Sonicboost - wouldnt you think the reason you are getting good mpg is because of the centrifugal design? You are making your boost at high rpms.
That brings up another thing.. my car is an automatic, so not sure if I would want to go centrifugal or not.

I guess my question should have been this .. I only want to achieve a safe 400 - 420 Rwhp in an automatic transmission daily driver. Which SC should I go with?

You know I don't really know why my mpg increased so much after the supercharger...Might be the tune, the gt500 pumps, or the making boost at high rpm's like you said. Don't know, don't care, but I like it..LOL If I only wanted to achieve 400-420 RWHP and I was in an automatic I would probably go whipple... You will have pretty good traction at that power level, should be pretty fun for a DD...

I know I dont get better mileage. I really think the GT500 Pumps makes the fuel mileage difference.

I am making 438rwhp with the saleen sc w/475hp upgrade, with your AT trans you should be right were you want with the same kit I am running with a good safe tune. As for gas mileage I average about 16-17mpg, but I have a VERY heavy right foot.

Considering this car is my daily driver, I'd like to decide on a supercharger that makes good sense as far as engine-life for a daily driver and not being too over-the-top.

I know the roushcharger is very conservative (like 145hp) and they pick up warranty coverage for you. But you only get like 5psi I think? For that much money it seems like a bad value.

My question is .. working up from the roush.. which supercharger(s) would be the next safest bets as far as engine-life and not turning it into a complete gas guzzler? I'd like to keep the car a while.
I came from an 03 Cobra and I just finished the installation of the Whipple HO system on a 08 Mustang GT. It is awesome. Just as fast, if not faster than the 2003 Cobra I had. Brings the car to life. Also, pretty doable for a self installation, and plenty of people here to ask questions of if help is needed. So far, I think I am getting about 15mpg, which is not too bad for how I have been driving it!

You keep referring to a SAFE design. Less boost is safe. Which brand you get absolutely does not matter. Boost is boost. It has the same effect on an engine no matter who makes it.
I am automatic and I have a ProCharger. Good combo if I say so myself.

I'm not sure why you'd feel that a 145 hp increase @ only 5 PSI is a bad value.

First, boost isn't a measure of power. It's a measure of pressure that basically equates to efficiency. If you have a blower, like my S trim for example, you get 400 HP (rwhp) at 8 pounds of boost.

When you figure that an average GT makes about 260-280 at the wheels, that's roughly a 120-140 HP increase.

When you compare that to a Saleen blower, you can get 400 rwhp at more like 5 or 6 pounds.

That means you're making the same power with less effort.

That's a win any way you look at it.

My advice is to do your best to stay away from bench racers who don't own the things about which they're trying to give advice. It's an easy way to get steered in the wrong direction.

You need to write down a list of your goals for the car. From there, write down what you think will get you there.

Personally, I'm more intereted in additional HP in a more usable RPM range of power.

The S Trim that came off my car was great once you got over 4000-4500 RPM. Just about anything south of that on the tach put you in a stock GT with gears.

In doing research on superchargers and with the input of people here on the board and friends that own various super chargers, if you are looking at 400rwhp and want a safe 5psi or so of boost A magnacharger is good at those ranges. I was wanting to go mangacharger for the fact that it makes its prescence known and there are sevral youtube videos that you can pull of any supercharger you are intrested in to see how it sounds both out and inside the vechile in question. I like the bypass valve design of the magna and other chargers whipple etc.. that makes the s/c operate under vacume when you dont need the boost. But for me cooming from a 5.7 V8 monster I would not be happy in giving my mustang 400 rwhp as I came from that sort of a vehicle already and would want additional HP, so I made my choice for a whipple.

The thing about mangachargers or fordracing super chargers is that you can buy powertrain warranty coverage with them to compliment your warranty so you will not be left with no warranty coverage.
