I have an 06, when my alternator started to go my car started surging when you gave it throttle while in 5th gear. Eventually I got the check engine, went to the dealership and they replaced it. So far on my 2006 GT with 28,000 miles, I'm on my 3rd Shaker 500 head unit, 2nd passenger front 02 sensor, and a 2nd Alternator. Is this normal for a Ford?

Crap, how did I miss that. My car has been surging as well sometimes.

Isn't p0340 a cam sensor\circuit code?

+1 (to the whole P0340/344 error code deal).

Does the 200 amp alternator at Pa-Performance provide a stronger fix to this problem than the 130 amp, or would you only need the 200 if you're running heavy electronics, like a sub or something?

When you are standing on the side of the road with a car that won't run. Seriously, your headlights will generally get dim because your motor is using the battery to power the ignition. As you probably know the battery does eventually run down. If your lights start getting dim, turn off all unnecessary items (ie a/c, stereo, heat etc.) and get to a garage ASAP or you will add a tow charge. Or it just won't start. My 01died suddenly when I was leaving work. I thought it was the alternator. I had it towed to the stealership and it turned out it was a dead 2 year old battery. A new battery cost me almost $250 factoring in the tow.
