Need help choosing replacement clutch: Ram HDX or Spec Stg 1?
I've been having a heck of a time shifting at higher rev's (pretty much cannot get the car to shift into 3rd or 4th at anything but moderate rev's). After the master tech at the dealership (experienced guy, racing team tech, racer himself, ultimate Ford master tech, etc) examined everything, he determined the clutch is not fully disengaging. It's a Centerforce DF, and I keep hearing of people having similar problems...so, since there is no cable or other method to adjust pedal travel, and since an adjustable slave is same price as a different clutch, it's time to seriously consider just swapping to a different clutch kit.
I don't need anything heavy duty, I really just want something easy to use for daily driving and a single step above stock (have LT's, X-pipe, tune, CAI, no blower so not big power). Won't be going to the strip, but might be autocrossing once in a great while. I'd rather have something that's easy to live with day-to-day than a stiff, chattery, monster of a clutch that only really shines on the rare auto-x day. This is mostly a street car, and I need to be realistic about what's a good match for non-competitive driving. I used to have race cars, and that was a different story.
I've narrowed my choices to these clutch kits (seem to be good from what I've heard, and price is also pretty good):
Have you had experience with one or both, and which would you pick and why?
Also, any other ones you'd consider in the same $300-ish price range?
Exedy Mach 400?
Thanks very much.

Whatever you get, i'd get a matching flywheel. I know a lot of clutch manufacturers claim you can use their clutch with a stock flywheel, but I have my doubts.]
What flywheel are you using now?
Specs billet steel flywheel is the cheapest, which is why i ended up with a spec stage 2.

+1^^
Get a matching setup, replace the factory TOB when you have the new clutch installed, and stay away from the adjustable TOB's.
BTW: I am running the McLeod RST clutch and matching flywheel, expensive but worth every penny.
