Default Short Throw Shifter

I am looking to get the roush short throw shifter but not do the extra arm and keep the stock shifter ****. Has anyone done this? I have played with the roush short shifter before but they had the tall shifter arm and I do not like that. I'm looking at this part.

yeah i did it. Thats all you need, you can keep the stock shifter ****, shifter boot, and the arm is the same length. I suggest doing it, I love mine. Only downside is you get more transmisssion noise in the cabin because the rousch shifter doesnt have as great of insulation.

Do you ever have problem getting it into gear? Do you loose a lot bit of the notchy feeling in the transmission? How much shorter is the shift? Say the stock shift is 1" long do you think it cut it more than half?

Roush short throw with stock arm sounds way short. I have the tall billet arm and its still a shorter throw then stock. I dont think I would like the effort required for shifting with the shorter arm.

If you're interested in keeping the stock look, I really like the MGW short throw shifter for the mustang. Check out their website -- even has video. It looks stock, except the throw is obviously shorter and the entire arm is located about an inch back. Both throw and height are adjustable.

I had the exact set up for about a week. The Roush short-throw shifter with the stock arm. The effort to shift was very difficult with the shorter arm and actually made my shifts slower. I've also read other owners experienced the same thing as well. After the first week, had my local roush dealer install the longer arm with the white ball ****....much better for me and the shift points are very precise and was exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with your choice.

so one person loves it... and one person hates it... I really do not want to get the longer arm... it is cool and I would maybe do it if this was a weekend warrior, but with this being my every day car I don't really want the awkward high shifter (when I played with one it seemed very awkward)

This is my daily driver and I have the tall arm set up. I find nothing awkward about it. One plus is that now when I have drink in the center console I don't have to do some contorted arm twist to shift. Its raised to the perfect height.
