Default Xcalibrator vs Predator tune...

okay, so here's my dillema...

What is the difference in long-term "tunability" of the SCT Xcalibrator X2 vs the DiabloSport Predator tuner? By the looks of things, alot of the folks on here are really satisfied with their C&L/SCT tune from Brenspeed...especially the Auto guys.

Here's the question.

I'd like to go with Cold Air, Exhaust, Gears and tune for the immediate mods, and it seems that the Xcalibrator would fit the bill; but I am also definitely gonna S/C a little bit further down the line and I've seen many testaments to the Predator tune, particularly in S/C applications...

Ya'lls thoughts on this?

**edit - meant the X2**

I'm interested too. The real comparison is the Xcalibrator 2 and the Predator.

I'm interested in a good stainless axle-back exhaust, just for the sound as there is no real performance gain. But for only a little more I can get performance gains with a CAI and custom tune.

And what about these guys claiming no tune needed with their CAI (WMS and K&N)? Just more efficient and does not lean out the engine?

I just put in the WMS CAI. Was running predator 87 oct tune. No CEL. Ran great. Just filled up w/ 93. Reflashed right in parking lot at gas station to predator performance tune. This thing is sick now. WMS CAI doesn't seem to alter a/f mixture much. Sounds mean too, at about 3500 rpm can hear very minimal wine like a s/c. Probably would benefit to have specific tune for that CAI, but predator performance tune works great with it. No experience w/ other tuners or CAI.

Depending on who you talk to, some people like SCT while some like Pred. The Pred is fully adjustable right now, while the X-CAL 2 is going to be fully adjustable in a few weeks. My local tuner Steeda only create tunes for SCT.

SO how I would decide is who does your local tuner create tunes for...the SCT or Pred? When you drop a blower in your car, it will defintely require a custom tune. So does you tuner create tunes for the SCT or for the Pred?

No point getting the pred if you have to get the X-cal later (and vice versa)

yeah, thats what I was thinking. Most of the local speed shops around here do Predator tunes, especially on 03/04 Cobras. Plus, my research into S/C packages mainly speak of Predator tunes. But I'm wondering if the X2 becomes fully adjustable in the near future, would it make sense to go the X2 once that happens...

Anyone else with firsthand knowledge?

it would be nice to see someone load in the predator, make a dyno run, athen load in the x2 and make another run. Hopefully that would clear up any arguments as to which one makes more power in a given application ( auto, manual etc).
