Have you tried the search featuer (I say that sarcastically since you obviously have not)? There is more info than you can read in a week regarding your questions.

Bottom line: Get a CAI & custom tunes. Aftermarket will NOT void your warranty. Research.

Nice to meet you too. The S197 thread for this hasn't had any current entries that answer my question in months to almost a year so I was looking for current input since performance items do change over time.

There still seems to be some confusion on certain brands of CAI if they require a reprogram or not and if they void your warranty or not.

If I get one (thanks to the current advice of others) I will do the reprogram but one of my local Ford dealers said it would void my warranty. I'm going to go to one of the other Ford dealers that is setting up a Ford Racing room to sell their parts and services.....you'd think if they sell the aftermarket Ford Racing products they might not void the warranty.

I took my CAI off and returned it to stock before I took it in for a checkup a few weeks ago. It just takes a few minutes. You can go that route, as I did, if you are really worried about them attempting to void your warranty. See Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. In particular, "Warrantors cannot require that only branded parts be used with the product in order to retain the warranty."

HOWEVER, the limitation really comes down to this - if the part you put on CAUSED the damage/malfunction, you are up **** creek. But, if you put on a CAI and later you take your car in because you are having an issue with your A/C, they can't refuse to fix it under warranty.

Also, any time you flash the pcm, it does leave a log or footprint. The mechanic I worked with was pretty cool and shot the breeze about other stuff I planned on doing to the car. He told me not to bother taking off the CAI any more. Admittedly, we do have a really kick *** bunch of guys working at tdealerships. It will vary from dealer to dealer and mechanic to mechanic.

As far as the CAI w/ or w/o tune, go with a tune. If you go w/o a tune and don't like the power, you've got yourself an intake that isn't made for tuning. Great. You'll want the tuner for future mods and, quite simply, it just wakes these cars up.

jha, thanks. Those are my initials by the way. I did go to the dealer and I talked to the service guy and parts guy that each have a 2007 Mustang GT. Of course they pushed Roush products and they are reasonable on the prices and expect them to go down as the new 5.0 takes hold of the aftermarket focus.

They said it's easy to point the finger at aftermarket parts if they are tied to a related problem but it's very hard to prove it. They say it can drag out but they think there should be no problems with what I'm planning. They both have Roush intakes, reprogram, catbacks, and one has pulleys.
