Default Need advice: Car possibly totaled while parked?

So the bad news is today my car was parked when a disabled driver lost control of his hand controls for his car and plowed into my baby. The trunk doesn't close, the rear bumper is thrashed, driver side rear quarter panel bent and torn. The impact was hard enough that the car was pushed into a planter wall. The front bumper collapsed to the point where the tip of the hood made impact and is now bent.

Thoughts on if the car is going to be totaled? The car has 2000 miles on it and is 5 months old.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Just based on your description of the damage it sounds like it won't be totaled, which sucks. Sorry to hear it.

I've calmed down a bit and I don't think it'll be totaled.

I'm sorry :-(.

FWIW, I had my car rear-ended two weeks ago while stopped at a railroad crossing. 2010 GT, 6 months old, 5k miles....with $10k of damage.

The problem if it ISN'T totalled (and like already mentioned it will be difficult on a new car to get them to total it) you're car isn't worth as much now because of the damage. If you go to resell it that wreck will show up on Carfax reports etc and you won't be able to get the full value out of the car...or at least what it was worth before the accident.

If it isn't totalled look into making a "diminished value" claim....you should get SOMETHING for the hit you'll take on resale due to an accident that wasn't your fault.
