Factory/Ford Alarm
Hey Guys,
I have been searching the forums for any info on my question however i havent had any luck.
I recently purchased a new GT-500 but they wanted extra for the ford alarm and in an effort to reduce the already high price of the car i opted not to have it installed when i purchased it but will be going back this weekend to get one. My question is will the alarm bought from the dealer be a plug and play type or will they have to cut wires like most alarms require? also since i have a remote for the doors built into the key for the car will that be used to arm and de-arm the alarm or will i have to carry a second remote??
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated...

I have two remotes. One with the little picture of a car and the origonal key remote. I use the origonal key remote for both alarms because the aftermarket one is way to big with a screen. (Do I really need to know what part of the car they are breaking into? lol) But I think they both work together because they work on the same frequency. With out requesting it, you will probably have two remotes for each alarm. I know you can program the new remote to do both functions, along with trunk, doors, depending on brand and if you request it.

GT500s come standard with the Factory Anti-Theft Alarm system installed. My 2007 comes with it and I just checked the order guide for the 2011 GT500 and it's listed under standard equipment. Don't pay extra for what you already paid for.
My dealer tried to sell me the alarm system as well ... I tried to convince them that it comes standard on all the 500s, but I think it just went in one ear and out the other. Many of the salesmen and all the finance guys that close the deal don't know much about these cars.
The alarm system works with the key FOB. For my 2007, the operating instructions and all the details you need can be found in the Mustang Owners manual - in the section titled "ACTIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (IF EQUIPPED)", under Locks and Security.
With that said, I did purchase Lojack with the advanced warning feature, but I did not purchase it from my dealer.

I thought the same about having a factory alarm also but i was under the impression it was only if the door or key was forced. I wasnt sure if it protected against things like someone trying to damage the car or breaking a window for example. Ill check the owners manual to make sure... Thanks for the heads up...
