Default Exhaust question

I recently purchased a Mac O/R prochamber mid pipes and I'm having an issue trying to find a shop here in CA that would install them for me. Most of the exhaust shops I've been to states that they won't remove the cats unless they need to be replaced due to everyone being monitored closely by CARB and BAR. Since I can't go catless, is there anyway I can use the mid pipe that came with the kit and do a cut & clamp procedure?

I don't see why you can't cut and clamp. The only difference between the cut and clamp and o/r should be the length of pipe that goes toward the header. Just cut the mid to be fitted behind the cat's and you should be good to go. Get in there with a ripsaw and some clamps and get er done son!

I called mac performance today. They did say that the mid pipe in the off road kit is the same as the cut and clamp that American muscle sells. As for CA; they can go **** them selves and their CARB and gun laws.

We have your same emissions standards up here in WA also it sucks. You can always get a high flow catted mid pipe.

Can't do high flow cats either. CA has their own standards when it comes to cats. If that was never the case, I would've bought some pypes or magnaflow high flow cats or the shops would've done the install already so I can atleast be happy happy happy.

Do the install yourself. Note: I have not done it myself either yet. (Plan on installing my borla S-type catback this weekend on my '13. When I got my o/r prochamber installed on my '03 GT I even had some problems in TX finding a shop that would install it (Finally did) but in talking to one shop if you tell them its for off road (racing) purposes only and not a street car they might do it. Just something to possibly look into. But as far as the install goes i believe it shouldn't be too bad. Hear of people doing exhaust in their driveway all the time. That's why i hope to do my own this weekend.

That is really odd we have the exact emission standards and shops up here will install them. You could always take a drive to Oregon perhaps if that somewhat close........

Ive been told to find a shop that is not being closely monitored by emissions. I already have a shop that will do the cut and clamp procedure. If I had the proper tools, I'd do it myself. At least by keeping the stock cats on, I don't have to worry about emissions when it is time to do my smog check...which is coming up pretty soon.
