Default Wind Noise Issue/Question

I just started noticing a slight wind noise In my '05 GT. Thought it might be the door windows but, if I crack them a bit, the wind noise does not change. And it does sound like it may be coming in the windshield area but I can't pinpoint it. I have read here about the windshield leaking but have not noticed any water on the floorboards. I'm wondering if there is air noise in the windshield if I could also have a potential water leak. I would like to eliminate both.

So I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue, if you found the problem, and what was the fix. I could not find any discussion with the Search feature. Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Bassani AB= what wind noise?? HAHA. I to have wind noise from the upper part of the windshield, sounds like behind/above the rear view mirror. not very noticeable till I get 65+ mph. its loud enough to notice but not loud enough that the stereo cant be turned up to mask it. the weather strips that are under the top door channel on my car are needing replaced. youll notice if yours need replaced as there is bits of it that poke out around the side mirrors. not sure if wind is getting under there and causing noise. that can also be an entry point for water as well. there is a good write up on replacing them on here somewhere. as for the windshield actually leaking, that im not sure of. the cowl clips are a known point of water entry as well and need to be replaced with adhesive ones if you get around to it. I pulled mine out and used auto goop to seal them. good luck

Looking at my Haynes repair manual I see there are fasteners on the lower end of the cowl under the hood that are removed first. So how is the cowl held at the top edge near the windshield? I don't want to break anything as I take them out. And is the leaking you reference at the lower clips or on the upper edge. Thanks for the reply!

Anyone else have an idea? Your time to reply would be greatly appreciated!

the leaking comes from the lower clips. there is a rubber/foam type gasket under the clips. if the plastic tangs that hold the clips in place fail over time, then water can get in under the gasket. you can buy new gasket/clips that have heat activated adhesive on them to help seal better. the cowl is in 2 pieces and the leak comes from the 10 clips/pockets that hold the cowl against the car. I think the pass side comes out first but check the seam in the middle, they also pull straight out. work them around the wipers

ok, just went and looked at mine. there are 4 plastic screw type clips on the front (2 each side) that need to come off. then take off the wipers. the rubber that is against the bottom of the windshield is attached to the cowl pieces. once you get that far, you should be able to get them off with some wiggling. there is a form fitted foam piece under that is supposed to sit between the cowl and fire wall and is covered in glue. also since your in the engine bay, look down between the engine and battery and feel under the bend for a rubber plug. you'll feel it, its about 2" long. that is the cowl drain and if it gets plugged youll get water inside as well. there is one on the drivers side as well. report back if you need any help. should be around all day. good luck

Went out for a drive today and no wind noise even at 80 mph?! Got to thinking why and realized the other day I was running about 75 - 80 into a stiff headwind. It was probably blowing around 25 - 30. So thats a net 100+ mph wind. So, from now on, I will be sure to stay below 100 mph even on calm days. Thanks for replies!
