Default engine noise?

Hey guys, I just purchased my car and I was wondering how much engine noise is appopriate? What I mean is, how much valve noise do you guys have on your 4.6L? I can hear the cam spinning in each head, and it seems to have a little tick at idle after its warm, just wondering if this is normal? It still has a lot of power, thanks!

Can't say I have heard any ticks, only roars and an occasional growl. Seriously though, my valvatrain is pretty quiet.

You will hear a slight ticking sound, injectors make noise, valve-train makes noise this isn't a quiet engine.

Install louder mufflers, problem solved! Oh yeah, check the oil too, couldn't hurt.

thanks, I checked the oil and its right on the full mark and its just as clean as the day it was put in. I know its probably nothing to worry about but whenever I spend 30+ grand Canadian on a car I tend to get a little worried about every little thing I see with it. Oh ya, I should mentiuon that u can only hear this with the hood open.

I heard the slight ticking sound at idle on mine too. But only waiting at the drive-thru McDonalds because it echoes off of the building. That's funny that you mention this. I also had an "Oh No!" reaction when I heard it. I don't think anything's wrong.

Holy F LOL, I had just logged onto this site to say the EXACT same thing. My 06 Gt Pre Conv only has like 700 miles on it and i hear this clicking sound at idle but only with the hood open. I was wondering if anyone else had heard it also. Glad to see i am not alone. That at least makes me feel a little better.

I have the same ticking noise. It wont do it cold, but when it gets warm it is noticeable.

It is surprising how loud the clicking of fuel injectors can be. Do you think it could be something other than the injectors?

I know for a fact that it is just the injectors. I have installed larger RC injectors and it got even louder. Those injectors are enduring a lot of FP and the factory injectors aren't that small. It's normal kids!
