Default Shifter boot removal

Picking up my daughters GT Monday and will install the Steeda tri-ax shifter in it. With out the car in front of me yet to see, how do you remove the leather boot over the manual shifter after the shift **** is removed? the instructions are not very explicit. Are there any screws to remove? I don't want to break the plastic molding the first day we have it. Thanks, Bill

Just press in on the long sides of the boot cover base. These have little "grabbers" that hold it onto the console. Once the sides are free, the ends just kind of come off. My biggest problem was the shift ****. It's on there real tight. Once you get the shift boot disconnected, raise it up over the ****, attatch a vice grip to the shaft and channel lock on the bottom of the shift **** and turn counter clock wise. no lock screw or anything on the ****, just on real tight.

Just write it up in the log book and I'll come over to clear it out and sign it "roadworthy".
