You're right!

The 5-speed is a Tremec TR3650, and depending who you talk to, it's either "ok" or a "POS!"

I've never really had any problems with mine and it's the one remaining stock part left in my drivetrain. I'm waiting to find out how well it handles boost. Aside from the stock tranny, I have a Hurst Billet/Plus short throw shifter with the chrome old school handle, along with a SPEC stage 2+ clutch kit and steel flywheel.

Cool, well i will keep my eyes open for an auto. More consistant and manuals hate me so I'll steer clear!

I have about 25-30 passes on my auto so far. The only problem I've noticed with it (the transmission) is that it gets hot after about 4 passes (back to back). Once it heats up, it stops barking second and basically starts shifting soft. A one hour cool down helps bring it back. It does have a trans cooler, but its pretty small. There are better ones for it and are very easy to install. All the lines are already in place, just ****** the stock one off and replace it. It sits at the bottom and front of the radiator, You can see it by looking under the bumper. The autos have pretty good torque converters considering they are stock. I have pulled a 1.97 60' on street tires. I haven't ever really been able to launch it hard yet. It locks up nicely too. With a higher stall, 4.10s, and DRs, I feel confident I will be damn close to a mid 12. Of course a full exhaust, CAI, and a good tune would only help even more. Don't let anyone talk you out of an automatic, they are just as fast as the manuals. I've had both FWIW.

Auto it is. I have a turbo swapped Cobalt and I've ran 115mph but no better then 13.3 in the 1/4. Transmission is toast in that car now, has been for a while lol

2.2 60' was the best I could ever get with 26x10.50r16 MT ET Streets. Damn fwd just isn't meant to be lol. Lots of spinning once the boost hits.

ever thought about tuning the boost in?

kinda like this 1st hit 8-10 lbs of boost 2nd 12-14 3rd full boost...with it staged it should allow for full boost less spin and shorter 60's

I had planned but in order to keep going with that car I'd have to do to much to it. Time for a new ride.
