Default high flow cats

I have a 2003 mach 1 (dark shadow grey) and it currently has an (illegal) x-pipe and the slp loudmouth exhaust. Since there's no cats and the aftermarket exhaust, its pretty loud. Well, the cops took notice and found out that I didn't have any cats and gave me a warning for an illegal exhaust. I have a winter beater that I use as my daily driver, but honestly, a '93 civic just doesn't compare to a mustang. I want to get it back out on the road without worrying about getting a ticket and being harassed (if you live in Maine, you'll know that cops harass you) Here's my question: if I get high flow cats, how much will it quiet it down? I absolutely love the sound of it now and I don't want to take it away. I just want to make it legal. Has anyone had this issue before? I still have the stock h-pipe but I don't want to put it back on. Thanks for any advice?

I run very loud mufflers as well, and when i put some high flow cats on (it was o/r for about 1 day) my o/r h pipe, it sounded MUCH better! It was smoother and deeper, with less rasp and pop...especially at partial throttle. Surprisingly it wasn't alot quieter at WOT though. But it's still loud as hell overall.

Mufflers like yours and mine almost always sound better catted IMO.

With an SLP you need a catted X or H-pipe

Magnaflow Magnapacks are the way to go. they are loud but i can keep them quiet when cops are around, i can also have a conversation while cruising at 70mph. thats with an O/R H-pipe.

it'll quiet it down only a wee bit. You don't have a choice but to do it though. You could go offroad with stingers, magnapacks or SSS....depends on your sound preference though. Having two high-flow cats would be less $ though. If you have the LM1s I don't know how you can stand it. I had them with an o/r H and it just got old having to speak up to have a conversation.

It's wise to not go with an o/r pipe with the SSS Terminator mufflers...maybe with the Adrenaline series though. The terminators are more like SLP 1's in terms of loudness.

idk if this is possible but you could get some stock cats and cut out the meterial from the top and weld them in with the evidence of alteration facing up towards the bottom of your car. That way it would flow straight through and be o/r but at a glance from under the car, it would apear to have cats. The only way the cop could prove you dont have cats would be to cut your cats off and take a look lol. was it a noise violation or a get some cats and be legal violation? A pain in the *** probly but if its worth it for you... I would get HF cats though. I had a bassani o/r x and super 40 flows on my 96 gt and it was load and sounded good at wot but if you were not wot it sounded like ***.
