2011 5.0 Coyote Testing Against 414HP BMW M3

Lets wait till the 5.0 is released. With more dsplacement and cams the motor will make more power, but with a higher compression ratio will not be as boost friendly. The 4.6 will be replaced in time, but how much will a 5.0 motor cost? The 4.6 3V forged with boost is still a great motor.

The 4.6L engine was a great engine period. It did a great job for many years. I feel like a lot of people don't like the 4.6L because it doesn't say 5.0 and has nothing to do with the potential and how great the 4.6L engine is.

Engineers raced a prototype 2011 5.0 Coyote with a 6-speed, track pack, Brembo brakes and it stayed even with a 414HP BMW M3, which weighs 200lbs less, and is faster than a Mercedes C63 with 451HP and 443 FT.
LBS. of torque
They were tweaking the suspension and the brakes over heated constantly, which meant of a needed improved track pack.

Interesting you left off the part about the M3 being a ragged out, bald tire track beater, while the GT is a brand new, R-compound tired non-production suspension test vehicle.
Also, the M3 weighs MORE than Mustang by ~100lbs, not "200lb less" - where'd you get THAT?
Mustang MIGHT be able to hang in a straight line with M3, but it's not going to approach it on a slalom or road course. But it doesn't have to; few will be cross shopping $35k American iron vs. $65k German.
Mustang just needs to find a way around Camaro SS; looks like this new GT will do that, for 2011 anyway. I'd expect Camaro to make some changes for 2012 once they see what they're up against with the new GT.
I'm not too far off from buying my next new car, and Mustang GT got back on my list with this major upgrade. If they do produce another good track pack along with this engine and 6spd, that's a great performance bargain that'll have me seriously considering it over a 2SS. I would still check out a CPO M3 as well; they're fantastic cars too. Just too expensive for me when new.
