Kind of old news over at Gencoupe.com. The general consensus is it probably won't happen. The 3.8 could easily be bumped up to around 350hp with DI and be an under 5 sec. car with better handling than the muscle cars. They could then bump up the 2.0 to around 275 as they already have done it with the Sonata. Which is kind of annoying because my car is only a year old and they already have updated the motor in another one of their cars and its not even a "sports car". Oh well at least its not quite as fast as my flashed car being fwd and heavier. It will be interesting when my lease is up though. I had planned on buying it out, but the new Mustang V6 is looking tempting already and who knows what all will be available in about 2 years...

I got news for you - the Sonata is lighter than the Genesis Coupe 2.0T. And front wheel drive cars lose less power in the drive train while transferring it to the wheels. Off the line traction will be worse in the Sonata Turbo, though. And gearing should (better) favor the Genesis Coupe. If I were you, I would not be racing any Sonata Turbo's!

It has less torque than the Mustang GT, and the peak torque is at 5K RPMs. And an 8 speed automatic transmission?

The bottom line, though, is that it's still ugly and the Mustang has style and looks.

I would agree with you if I was still stock, but with just a reflash, my coupe went from about 210hp/220tq to 240hp/290tq and 0-60 drops from just under 7 to just under 6 seconds. The added torque really makes a difference.
