Ok. Now if we look at the real ideals here, The euros build their cars to almost full potential, The US builds our cars so mild, it's heartbreaking. Take the Cobra. You can add a pulley, tuning, a better intake and maybe a higher folowing exh while keeping the DOT noise within limits. Push 500rwhp and be a eurokiller, pass emissions, and all Federal standards. But the Big 2 (GM, Ford) Leave alot of room for the enthusiast to do their own mods, plus the aftermarket corporations make out big time. That is the law of economy. If the makers didn't do this, there wouldn't be companies like Competition Cams or Bassani, etc. Well, there still would be some big ones but, you know what I mean.
