Hey All
My name is Greg. I spent the better part of the late 70's and all of the 80's playing around with mostly Mustangs and Torinos. 428CJ's were my engines of choice early on. When the Buick Mustang wars started heating up I bought myself a newer Mustang. Man, I loved these cars. They had all of the power potential of my big block Mustangs plus I saved knuckles changing plugs, had power everything, and the car handled pretty decent.
Alas all good things change. I got married, had two kids, and dabbled in imports. Always wanted a 300ZX TT but it was never to be. Did have a 500SL Mercedes which I loved but had to get rid of when the $1,400 car payment could not be if we wanted a house. I eventually settled for some Volvo's and currently have a 2006 XC90 and 2006 S60R.
Around 2001I went through a crisis I guess where I missed my fast cars. There was no way I could afford my 69-70 Mach I's anymore. I started collecting diecast cars which did suppress the urge a bit.
Last year my buddy asked me if I wanted to buy his Saleen. He was the second owner and the original owner used to race around with us back when the car was new. Car has very low miles but it has been sitting quite a bit for the last 10 years with the exterior getting the brunt of it. I thought I would just leave it stock and cruise around in it but watching my buddies race all the time at Fontana and Irwindale really got me in the urge to play with the car a bit. My friend does wonders with 351W as you can see in the picture of his 67 Mustang. I am in the process of slipping a 351W in my Saleen but will need to keep the car slower than 11.50 so I won't have to put a cage in it. Ideally I would be happy to get the car to run 11.70 and then dial it in to run 12.00 in the sportsman class.
