hello, new guy with some questions
hey all, i have a few questions about a mustang i might get. a friend has a 73 mach 1 in his salvage yard. clear ohio title and he would like 1000 for it. now i have owned a mustang before, 25th aniversary fox body, but i am new to older mustangs. I am an olds guy but my wife would like a smaller sportier car, so she is really interested in this car. what should i look for when i check this car out in the next couple days? are parts reletively easy to get. is this a good price for a car that needs a full and i mean full restoration? i will be be finishing my 75 442 very soon and would be interested in a different project to work on for her. thanks for any help you can offer and this is a really nicely layed out forum.

RE: hello, new guy with some questions
To be honest parts may have to be custom ordered, but should be fairly easy to find the people to do it, now the pricing depends on how bad this is.
If it's completely rusted thru then no it's not worth it.
If the Frame's structure is reasonably well off however it's a steal.
Beyound that I wouldn't know much about it.

Definitely make sure the frame is in good shape first. Then take a look at the body to check for any rust damage. These two are huge when getting an old car especially from a salvage yard. Parts shouldn't be that hard to get.

well i know it will definitely need floors and probably quarters. my buddy says the frame is in good shape. i am going to look at it after my physical training tommorow. i may try to talk him down or trade him my car plus he adds some parts i need to work on it depending on what it looks like, will likely need to have the seats recovered but it still has the 351w it came with and the tranny, ram air hood, and fin. so it may not be so much a restoration as a typical ohio putting back together lol
