Hey everyone. New to the forum. Just bought my Uncles 86 Mustang GT convertible. It hasn’t run in a few years. He said the engine was running rough and he’s had it up on stands in a garage since he last had it running. Looking forward to getting dirty restoring it. Interior needs work, paint needs a good buffing, and engine most likely needs a lot of work. Planning on doing a compression test on it and manually turning over the engine before trying to crank it. Any suggestions and tips would be much appreciated. Sorry don’t have a photo handy.

if you are manually turning it over because of rust in the cylinders, some transmission lube in the cylinder walls will help free it up. Just work it back and forth until you can make full revolutions with it. The engine should be fine.
