There are formulations of Mobil 1 even I would still use. Their 0W-40 and any weight they formulate in their High Mileage oils. Those are still API SL, and have a much better additive pack like the Mobil oils from yesteryear.

Seriously, either change to the high mileage stuff....or bail on Mobil 1 all together.
Mobil5000 ain't bad, no?

getting me to use a true group II base stock oil...

I would give my Shelby away for free before I did that. lol

*kidding*

I prefer your cocktail lusts of MotorCraft SynBlend myself, although to admit it....I really haven't looked into Mobil's "cheaper" blends.

I just started using RP when I changed my cam covers. With only 45k miles I had noticeable wear on the cam lobes. Maybe wear is the wrong term since I didn't measure, but there is definite polishing of the lobes, so there must be some friction there. my car has been supercharged since 12,000 miles, so that may make a slight difference.

I've used mobil 1 5w20, 5w30 and for the last 20,000 or so miles pennzoil platinum 5w30.

Hi all,

I am a newbie, so please bear with me. So is it better to change out the oil to RP or other Synthetic Motor Oil, as soon as I get my Pony or should I wait until after the break in time (1000miles) or waith until the first recommended oil change.

Thank you!

I know this is an old thread, but I just ran across it. I have just called mobil1 tech support (# on the bottle) and the guy tells me that mobil1 has NO mineral, dino oil in its' base. He said it is 100% synthetic. Now I am confused even more. Just my $.02 Mark

Question

I bought a used 2006 GT with 18000 miles and I'm changing plugs and oil so I started the "Google" search for the best.

I don't know if this means anything to anyone but I thought it was interesting.
