2010 Mustang GT Oil Weight Frustration.
Ok first I want to say that I have read these posts about all the different opinions on oil weight. I know that around the year 2000 Ford decided to switch oil weight to a 5w-20 for fuel economy. This just never sat well with me because it seems in a high performance/ high revving engine the oil should be a little heavier. This isn't a Civic. I just hit 5k miles and want to switch to a Royal Purple synthetic, but am still torn on 5w-20 or just go 5w-30. If anyone can convince me of either one I would appreciate it. Thanks all.

Increased oil weight, and MPG improved, Possible?
This will explain why Ford made the change you speak of. You shouldn't have a question after reading this, if you haven't done so already.
Base stocks, an explanation of oil formulations
That will help you understand how they formulate oils, and why true synthetics are superior.

Keep adding questions here, and I or others will chime in
